Alex Perrott
Area Manager - Central Canterbury
Area Manager
Alex gets energised seeing people progress through the dairy sector who are passionate about their animals, people and environment.
“Farmers do a hard job that requires many hours. Often, they’re also operating in isolated communities. They need people they can reach out to, especially in tough times of the year.”
Alex says being a supportive regional team member is about bringing information to farmers which allows them to make decisions that will improve their business outcomes, using extension, science, data and role models in the industry. Regular contact with them – and others in the sector, is also important.
“We organise a rural professionals’ catch up every three-to-four months, where we find out what’s happening in the region, and how we can work together to support farmers. It’s also an opportunity to promote the work DairyNZ does that can address any concerns raised by the group. I also support events with other organisations to showcase what DairyNZ does and what we have to offer dairy farmers.”
Originally from the UK, Alex comes from a dairy farming background and has been with DairyNZ for over two years. Living in New Zealand since 2013, Alex previously worked for the local council and the Ministry of Primary Industries.
“I want farmers to know our team is just a phone call away. We have heaps of interesting data to share with them that will have a positive impact on their business.”
