Helping farmers to achieve successful business goals alongside all the other elements they need to juggle, gives Charlotte the ultimate buzz.

Charlotte’s back in her home town of Waverly, after five years in the Bay of Plenty region.

“Outside of my regional team role at DairyNZ, I get out on my partner's family dairy farm where I can. I’m always challenging the system though, making sure we’re making the best decisions while trying to maximise our farm’s performance.

“Everyone has a team approach within our region, along with different strengths to one another. So, if a farmer is after anything that may be someone else’s strength, that team member is happy to help.”

Getting out there communicating with other organisations and rural professionals also helps Charlotte stay aware of what’s happening within other areas of the sector.

“You can also provide farmers with key contacts if they’re after information from different organisations, or keep them up to date with what other people are seeing in their business.”

Charlotte’s enthusiasm for dairying stems from her upbringing in the agricultural sector.

“That’s the passion that drives me to want to work with other agribusiness people and farmers to maximise their performance, so the sector remains resilient into future.

“The phrase ‘have to hit budget’ has been drilled into me from past roles, so I get a lot of joy when the farmers I work with say they’re on budget or above budget. A lot of hard work goes into this, so those phrases are very rewarding to hear.”
